Overview
DecisionPoint seeks a Cloud Architect and Infrastructure Lead (SME) to serve as the senior-most authority over AWS GovCloud architecture, IL5 security alignment, and cloud infrastructure strategy supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This SME-level role owns the cloud architecture vision, directs modernization efforts, and ensures the resilience, scalability, and security of the entire enterprise cloud ecosystem.
The SME will collaborate with executive technical leadership, cybersecurity governance, engineering teams, and mission stakeholders to design and maintain a high-performance, secure cloud environment tailored to complex enterprise requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Cloud Architect and Infrastructure Lead (SME) will:
- Define and own the enterprise IL5 AWS GovCloud architecture, roadmap, and modernization strategy.
- Architect secure, scalable cloud solutions that comply with DoD IL5, Zero Trust, and RMF requirements.
- Oversee all infrastructure components: compute, networking, VPC design, storage, load balancing, identity, and access controls.
- Lead enterprise-wide cloud modernization initiatives, migration plans, and long-term infrastructure evolution.
- Direct the implementation of Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
- Lead enterprise COOP, DR, and high-availability cloud architecture efforts.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity leadership to implement RMF controls, STIGs, and continuous monitoring solutions.
- Conduct expert-level troubleshooting of cloud, network, and infrastructure issues.
- Develop enterprise architecture standards, cloud governance policies, and operational playbooks.
- Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on cost optimization, performance tuning, and cloud scalability.
- Mentor senior engineers and guide cloud engineering teams in best practices.
- Participate in executive-level technical discussions and cloud strategy reviews.
Clearance Requirement
Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 investigation.
Education (Required)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience (Required)
- Minimum 12 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure architecture, or enterprise systems engineering.
- Minimum 5 years architecting and administering AWS GovCloud IL5 environments.
- Extensive experience designing secure, scalable architectures for federal or DoD systems.
- Experience leading cloud transformation or modernization at enterprise scale.
- Experience coordinating cross-enterprise teams at an SME or chief architect level.
Technical Knowledge (Required)
- Deep subject-matter expertise in AWS GovCloud enterprise architecture.
- Expert-level understanding of IL5 cloud security, RMF controls, and Zero Trust alignment.
- Mastery of VPC design, IAM strategy, network segmentation, encryption, KMS, and multi-region architectures.
- Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code toolsets (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in cloud monitoring, observability, logging, and operational telemetry.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
- Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, ECS, and microservices modernization.
- Familiarity with enterprise SIEM tools and cloud-native security monitoring.
- Experience leading integration of cloud environments with CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines.
Certifications
Required:
- CompTIA Security+
- One or more of the following senior cybersecurity certifications: CGRC, CISM, CISSP, CASP+, GSLC
Preferred:
- AWS Solutions Architect - Professional
- ITIL v4 Foundation
- Additional DoD cloud or cybersecurity SME credentials
