Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Procurement Specialist for a contract position in Redmond, WA. The opportunity will be a year with a strong chance for a long-term extension.

Position Summary:

The main function of a Procurement Specialist is to lead in determining and managing the sourcing strategy within a defined category or sub-categories, identifying and engaging with senior stakeholders. The manager will oversee the sourcing process and materials/reports for management, as well as provide sourcing and procurement advice to business areas.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and to define and implement the category strategy, plans and processes for sourcing goods and services.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the business drivers and have a comprehensive understanding of how they affect the business strategy.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on procurement policies, processes and best practice.
  • Manage key sourcing activities for business projects, ensuring timely delivery and budgeting with appropriate risk management.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key existing strategic suppliers and identify potential new partners.
  • Monitor compliance with the business's sourcing process, acting as an internal consultant for each stage in the process.
  • Develop category or sub-category strategy, plans, and sourcing pipelines.
  • Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to handle supplier relationship management, contract management, supply management, and execution to ensure suppliers meet business needs. There is significant data work for evaluating supplier performance, managing bids, and providing forecasts as part of contractual commitments. The team is split between those specializing in specific product categories and those focused on supplier relationships and escalations. This role supports the contract management side for specialized categories.
  • Key projects: Nothing specific at this time, but there are a few things the team is working on that this candidate may assist with. There are ongoing projects involving the development of Power BI reports to track SLAs and milestones throughout the contracting process. The new hire may support data gathering and analysis for these reports. The team is implementing changes to systems and tools used for contract generation, with the expectation that the new hire will help document requirements, prioritize team requests, and assist with ongoing tool/process adjustments. A spare part management program is being initiated, and the new hire may drive analysis on supplier sourcing, workload distribution, and collaboration with data center teams to define role responsibilities.
  • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 50/50 split between meetings (supporting the team and category managers) and heads-down project work, due to the number of ongoing projects.

Qualifications:
  • Years of Experience Required: 10+ overall years of experience in the field.
  • Degrees or certifications required: Not required, but nice to have
  • Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain Procurement experience
  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on the quality of work and meeting deadlines
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience with Advanced Excel skills for data reporting and analysis
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with the Ability to run or pull queries, including SQL experience
  • Minimum 5+ years experience with Strong document writing skills for creating cohesive narratives
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience

Preferred:
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of procurement and sourcing techniques and supply chain management
  • Experience in procurement or purchasing
