Responsibilities

As a Linux Systems Administrator, Staff with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:
  • Perform general Linux Systems Administrator (SA) functions supporting users with courteous responses to their operations and maintenance activities issues.
  • Triage Tier I Service desk tickets and produce service ticket reports and performance metrics.
  • Assist in creating, administering, and managing Linux user accounts.
  • Perform timely hardware replacement not covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Implement necessary measures to comply with all Program security requirements.
  • Adhere to all IT policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Support Senior Linux SAs and Engineering team in installation and testing of system components, including setup and configuration of hardware, software, and computer peripherals, as well as data storage servers and networking equipment.

Qualifications

  • Active TOP SECRET clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Current DoD 8140 IAT II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE)
  • Experience with VMware vSphere (ver. 7 and up)
  • Comfortable working in a command-line environment with fundamental scripting skills (e.g., BASH, Python).
  • Familiarity with containerized technology, Ansible, and PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with hardening Linux systems to meet Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls.
