Job Details
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to support a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and utilities while ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) and breakdown maintenance consistent with cGMP engineering requirements.
Conduct routine maintenance on manufacturing machinery, utilities, and infrastructure.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues from simple to complex to maintain optimal running efficiency.
Operate and maintain automation systems related to manufacturing and plant utilities.
Maintain accurate documentation for PMs, breakdowns, and logbooks.
Follow all company policies and adhere to state, federal, and GMP safety regulations.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and special maintenance projects.
Perform non-routine and emergency maintenance tasks as needed.
Complete mandatory language testing (English proficiency at Basic A2 level) before hiring.
Work Conditions
Exposure to noise, fumes, gases, dust, unpleasant odors, and manufacturing hazards (moving machinery, chemicals, scaffolding work).
Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, smelling, and operating hand tools and equipment.
Visual demands include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
Safety equipment such as shoes, glasses, and gloves must be worn.
Limited travel (up to 5%).
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, Trade/Vocational School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing maintenance.
Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, automation systems, and cGMP compliance.
Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and repair capabilities.
Basic math and computer skills (Microsoft Office, CMMS experience preferred).
Operational knowledge of manufacturing equipment like blenders, sifters, mills, dust collectors, tablet dedusters, and packaging equipment.
Black Seal Boiler License and/or HVAC Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in oral solid dosage (OSD) manufacturing.
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and control diagrams.
Welding and plumbing skills, including sweating copper tubing.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) for HVAC troubleshooting.
Knowledge of compressed air systems and sheet metal fabrication.
Advanced troubleshooting of mid-level pharmaceutical equipment (e.g., compression machines, high shear mixers, capsule fillers).
Electrical and control troubleshooting using instrumentation like multimeters.
