Role: Network Administrator
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Ongoing Contract
Rate: $8,500/month
Type: ship is Required due to Federal Project- Ability to pass enhanced background screen (criminal, financial, drug) for Public Trust clearance.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator to lead and support the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex enterprise network environments for a high-availability E-Commerce platform. This role requires deep technical knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches, and routing protocols. Candidates should be capable of managing change processes, resolving incidents, and implementing preventative measures across a broad technical infrastructure. Off-hours and on-call availability is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary resource for network incident response, performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis to restore services quickly and effectively.

  • Own the resolution of network issues escalated to the network engineering team, ensuring continuity for business-critical systems.

  • Lead and participate in after-hours support rotations, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties as needed.

  • Proactively audit network devices to ensure adherence to organizational policies and compliance standards.

  • Execute change management procedures for network infrastructure components in alignment with ITIL best practices.

  • Design, implement, and maintain upgrades and patches for all network hardware and software.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support high-availability and scalable network environments for e-commerce systems.

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with F5 LTM load balancers - administration, configuration, and upgrades.

  • Extensive experience administering and upgrading Checkpoint and Juniper firewalls.

  • Proficient in configuring and maintaining Cisco IOS routers, Catalyst switches, and Nexus OS switches.

  • Solid understanding and troubleshooting of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VLAN, and TCP/IP.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement preventative measures to minimize future network disruptions.

  • Familiarity with ITIL standards and procedures for incident, change, and configuration management.

  • Proficiency in network documentation, process mapping, and audit readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in network administration within enterprise environments.

  • Proven problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to function independently or in a collaborative team.

  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.

  • Experience working in matrixed or remote team environments.
