About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Application Support Developer with strong PL/SQL expertise to join a dynamic team in a full-time, onsite role located in downtown Houston. This is a mission-critical, support-focused position with early morning hours (7:30 AM start), ideal for self-motivated developers who enjoy fast-paced environments and close collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.

You ll play a key role in supporting Oracle database applications that drive daily business operations, with a focus on PL/SQL development, performance optimization, and ad hoc reporting. The environment is stable yet evolving, and you will be empowered to make a measurable impact on reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and database triggers to meet ongoing business needs.
  • Provide hands-on application support for Oracle-based systems, identifying and resolving production issues proactively.
  • Analyze complex datasets and generate ad hoc reports to support operations and decision-making.
  • Optimize SQL queries and database performance using indexing, partitioning, and tuning best practices.
  • Collaborate with business users, analysts, and other IT teams to gather requirements and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Utilize tools such as Toad and SQL Developer for database development and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in PL/SQL development and Oracle database application support.
  • Expertise in SQL tuning, indexing, and partitioning for performance optimization.
  • Strong experience with stored procedures, functions, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Solid command of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in development tools including Toad and SQL Developer.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable working onsite daily in downtown Houston with a 7:30 AM start time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 10 years of relevant experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in high-availability production support environments.
  • Exposure to enterprise systems in industries such as energy, financial services, or logistics.
