Description:
Civil Engineering Municipal Manager
Our client is a full-service consulting firm provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary services to government, business, and institutions in our communities. With over 170 professionals, our team is capable of analyzing, advising, designing, and delivering successful projects. We take pride in offering industry expertise, accurate scope of work, and a passion for listening. Our services include Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Surveying, and we are based out of Southwest Michigan, Metro Detroit, and Northern Indiana.
We are seeking a Civil Engineering Municipal Manager to join our Kalamazoo, MI office with these responsibilities and requirements below.
Job Description:
Maintain and foster good relationships with current and potential municipal clients
Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners
Oversee team performance and workload; facilitate scheduling with other locations and disciplines to deliver best in class projects to our clients
Manage financial performance for projects; ensuring backlog is healthy, utilization targets are achieved, and overhead costs are low
Partner with Director of Engineering and Government Sector Lead to align best talents to our projects while developing a pipeline of talent and succession planning
Experience leading and building a strong engineering team; drive results by planning, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Strong technical skills for storm, sanitary, water and local roads projects
Proven experience consulting or partnering with local, regional, and state government
Proficient with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, Cosential preferred
Able to communicate effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing; in-person and virtually
Able to work independently with self-motivated attitude; capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
Report directly to Director of Engineering
Partner on the Engineering Leadership Team
Lead and mentor Municipal discipline team (15-20 people)
Qualifications Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
PE Licensure in Michigan
10+ years of experience managing municipal projects; storm, sanitary, water, local roads
10+ years of experience in A/E/C industry with record of municipal client retention/attraction
10+ years experience in developing business
10 + years experience managing direct reports
PE Licensure in Indiana, Illinois
Position based in Kalamazoo
Travel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings will be required
