Job Title: Oracle ERP Database Administrator (Part-Time)
Location: Richmond, VA Hybrid
Interview Mode: Web and In Person

Position Overview

Seeking a part-time Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to serve as a backup for the primary Oracle DBA and handle on-call responsibilities. This hybrid role requires coverage both during regular business hours and in a rotating on-call capacity, supporting business-critical Oracle ERP environments.

Key Responsibilities

Provide effective DBA support for Oracle 19c environments, including troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.

Serve as backup to the primary DBA and manage on-call duties in a 7-day rotation (two weeks each month), ensuring availability and response outside regular office hours.

Administer and support Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Dataguard Physical Standby for database reliability and disaster recovery.

Perform regular RMAN backup and recovery operations.

Use utilities such as export/import Data Pump, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and ASM (Automatic Storage Management) on Linux.

Respond to and resolve database-related incidents promptly, both during normal hours and while on-call.

Maintain documentation on procedures, configurations, and incident response actions.

Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of DBA experience working with Oracle 19c.

3+ years of experience with Oracle RAC and Dataguard Physical Standby.

10+ years of experience with RMAN backup and recovery.

5+ years of experience with export/import Data Pump, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and ASM on Linux.

Strong troubleshooting skills; adept in diagnosing and resolving database issues.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.

Experience supporting Linux or Unix system administration.

Familiarity with SQL Server 2019.

Additional Details

On-call rotation runs Saturday Friday, supporting the Division of Consolidated Laboratory LIMS Database.

Compensation provided for on-call availability and additional hours if called in.

Required to remain available via phone or email and respond within 30 minutes during on-call periods.

Must not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances during on-call duty.
