Title: SME Vmware Migration
Location: LA (Los Angeles CA) , Locals preferred
Special Notes: Need someone 3 times onsite in a week at the least, Past Experience to Migrate 400+ vm's a must
Hands on Server Management Automation with any of these tools, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Conductor
Description
Broadly assist Client project to replace/expand aging server hardware components, including both compute and storage solutions.
Work alongside selected hardware vendor implementation team(s) to oversee/perform/validate the work.
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the server replacement and migration process.
Conducting diagnostics and post-replacement tests to validate hardware functionality.
Assisting with the migration of over 400 virtual machines to the new server hardware solution.
Collaborating with network and system owners to ensure compatibility and performance.
Maintaining documentation of hardware configurations and updates.
Provide ongoing support of new server hardware post implementation.
Ensure all activities adhere to CLIENT's security policies and industry best practices for data protection.
Qualifications
Qualified contractors must demonstrate:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in server hardware troubleshooting and replacement.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing hypervisor environments.
Familiarity with Windows Server, VMware, and server hardware infrastructure.
Ability to interpret technical documentation and coordinate with support teams.
Experience with disaster recovery planning, security patching, and firmware updates.
Understanding of data center operations, including rack management and cabling standards.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, ensuring tasks are completed with minimal supervision.
Deliverables
Contractor will be expected to provide:
Successful completion of virtual machine migration from old to new hardware.
Weekly progress reports and project logs (issues, risks, action items).
Documentation of each server workload and associated configurations.
Post-Implementation Support
The selected contractor will be responsible for providing post-implementation support to ensure the stability and security of the newly deployed server hardware. This includes:
Verifying that all firmware updates are applied and current across all replaced hardware components.
Ensuring security patches are installed and up-to-date in accordance with CLIENT's IT security standards.
Performing follow-up diagnostics to confirm system integrity and performance.
Providing documentation of all updates and support activities.
Offering technical assistance for a minimum of 6 months post-deployment to address any emerging issues.
