Job Title: Core Component Stress Analysis Engineer
Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: Contract
Compensation: $84 - $110 hourly

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and resourceful Core Component Stress Analysis Engineer. In this critical role, you will conduct stress analyses for structures operating in high-temperature and high-neutron fluence environments, supporting the design development of various Reactor Core Components (RCC) and Core Support Systems (CSS) for a Generation IV Reactor. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers and scientists focused on advancing the design of next-generation nuclear reactors.

Responsibilities:
- Perform stress analysis for Reactor Core Assemblies utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations.
- Present analysis results to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Collaborate closely with the Core Component Design team on engineering design activities and requirements.
- Engage with multidisciplinary Engineering and Project Teams to provide inputs and support design solutions.
- Promote continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to uphold the highest quality of engineering design.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and enhancements.
- Education: B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of ten years of structural analysis experience; relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may account for up to two and four years of experience, respectively.
- Proficient in using FEA for nonlinear analyses, with a strong emphasis on ANSYS or ABAQUS.
- Familiarity with first-principles calculations and reference materials for closed-form approximations (e.g., Shigley's, Roark's).
- Experience with scripting languages such as APDL or Python.
- Knowledge of standalone CAD packages, with SolidWorks preferred.
- Working experience with design codes, including ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section III, Division I, Division V, Section VIII, Division II, and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and integrity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
