Job Description
Air and Space Force Solutions, a business unit within BAE Systems, has an opening at our Hill Air Force Base, Utah location for a Linux System Administrator. The selected candidate will join our Information Services team and have an important role in supporting our mission of Strategic Deterrence through continual improvement and innovation. The position requires the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the application maintenance and support services to users of various engineering systems. The duties include providing system maintenance and support of all Linux operating systems and becoming an expert of these systems
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux Servers
  • Conduct training for all departments for overlap support and any cross-department end-user training
  • Assisting with root cause analysis and resolving faults and errors in applications
  • Assisting with development of recommendations for enhancing approaches for software support services
  • Ensuring adherence to IT infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures
  • Updating work instruction documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Ensuring assigned operating systems and applications are compliant with all applicable Department of Defense (DoD) directives and guidelines, including Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) bulletins

This position requires an active final Secret clearance upon hire date. The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance. An active Top Secret clearance is preferred.

The applicant must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification requirements on hire date or must obtain such within 6 months of being hired.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Education and Years of Experience Requirements for this Position
A technical degree in computer science, or other related IT degree, and years of relevant experience for this position are as follows:
  • HS Diploma and 11+ years of experience, or
  • BS/BA Degree and 7+ years of experience, or
  • MS/MA Degree and 5+ years of experience
Experience and skills in the following:
  • Related experience in system administration, system design, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Utilizing DISA STIG checklists to assess and document compliance
Certification Requirement
The applicant must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification requirements on hire date or must obtain such within 6 months of being hired.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Other preferred skills (not necessarily required but will increase consideration for the position):
  • Experience administrating Linux systems in an enterprise environment (RHEL preferred)
  • Experience assisting with maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Use of scripting to automate administrative tasks using Bash, PowerShell, Python, and/or AWS Console
  • Experience with Virtual Desktops
  • Experience with virtualization
  • Experience with VMware ESXi
  • Experience utilizing DISA STIG checklists to assess and document compliance
  • Experience with supporting large-scale deployments as an administrator
  • Knowledge of migrating and/or extending on-premises software to the cloud
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud Platform (IaaS)
  • Knowledge of load balancing/failover technologies
  • Use of scripting to automate administrative tasks using Bash, PowerShell, Python, and/or AWS Console
  • General understanding of antivirus software
  • General understanding of vulnerability scanning software
  • General understanding of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Experience ensuring assigned operating systems and applications are compliant with all applicable Department of Defense (DoD) directives and guidelines, including Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) bulletins
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) Certification
  • LPIC -1 or LPIC-2 (Linux Professional Institute Certification)
  • Other industry certifications

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $75510 - $128340

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
