The Senior Product Innovation Manager, Assays is responsible for bringing Cepheid's product vision to life for new product development by translating customer needs into prioritized innovation and technology decisions.

The hybrid position is part of Global Product Management and will be located in Santa Clara, California. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Based on customer needs, co-develop and present business cases for New Product Development (NPD) and be a driver of the NPD process by defining market requirements and designing target product profiles.
  • Participate in Product Strategy Review (PSR) meetings to present new business cases in collaboration with Product Portfolio teams and align on product strategy and project prioritization .
  • Contribute to the Innovation roadmap and maintain Incremental Pipeline Value (IPV,) and Innovation Growth Equation metrics aligned with a multi-year Strategic Plan.
  • In collaboration with Product Portfolio teams, gather and represent the voice of customer and the voice of business on NPD core teams and lead market discussions at monthly Product Planning Group (PPG) meetings to assess and manage risks and tradeoffs.
  • Establish leadership in cross-functional NPD core teams and ensure adherence to market and product requirements from pre-concept tollgate, through the entire product development cycle.


The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR Master's degree in field with 6+ years of related work experience or Doctoral Degree in the field with 3+ years of work experience .
  • Demonstrated experience in translating customer needs into product requirements and ensuring product designs meet customer needs.
  • Experience in developing and presenting business cases to top management and leadership.
  • Role requires frequent travel of up to 30% and may include some international travel .


It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Knowledge of the molecular diagnostic testing and instrumentation marketplace is highly desired .
  • Strategic marketing and/or product management experience is preferred .
  • Communicates effectively and is a strong team player/collaborator with various internal constituents, customers , and other stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is $133,000 - $182,750. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonincentive pay.
