Job Details

Provide technical support (including hands-on) that will result in; maximization and control of vital production and support equipment, the attainment of production goals and product safety, and identify cost reduction opportunities and implement appropriate solutions. This requires a strong practical knowledge of mechanical principles, and project management capabilities. Strong commitment to meeting production needs, strong project management skills, teamwork, and support of fellow employees are essential for meeting team and plant goals in production, quality, projects, and product and employee safety.

Job Duties
1. Coordinate activities on the execution phase of the project defined in the scope of work, including scheduling, construction/installation, commissioning, startup, and documentation activities.
2. Lead and champion continuous improvement for the site.
3. Liaison between local organizations and corporate Manufacturing.
4. Provide technical support and guidance to minimize equipment downtime and maximize plant productivity.
5. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
6. Install, operate, or maintain mechanical equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
7. Collaborate with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
8. Monitor all aspects of production.
9. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
10. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, or environmental regulations.
11. Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
12. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, or repair to ensure that machines or equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
13. Estimate costs or submit bids for engineering or construction projects.
14. Recommend the use of utility or energy services that minimize carbon footprints.
15. Evaluate mechanical designs for energy performance or environmental impact.
16. Direct the installation, operation, maintenance, or repair of energy equipment, such as cooling, compressed air, and air conditioning (HVAC) or water systems.
17. Perform personnel functions, such as supervision of technicians, technologists, or other engineers.
18. Calculate energy losses for buildings, using equipment such as computers, combustion analyzers, or pressure gauges.
19. Establish or coordinate the maintenance or safety procedures, service schedule, or supply of materials required to maintain machines or equipment in the prescribed condition.
20. Comply with current safety requirements and provide input for the improvement of employees and plant safety.
21. Manage, participate in, and complete applicable projects.
22. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Have 5 + years experience in mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience working with thermoformers or extruders in a production environment
  • Have a 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • Have a strong sense of commitment and urgency
  • Have strong problem solving skills
  • Have ability to influence all levels of the organization
  • Have strong project management skills (Equipment installs, line upgrades, machine commissioning, maintenance)
