Job Details

Job Title: Java Tech Lead
Location: Canada (Remote)
Duration/Term: Long-Term Contract


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Java Tech Lead with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native microservices development. The ideal candidate will lead a team of developers, ensure architectural integrity, and deliver high-performance, scalable backend solutions. This individual should be well-versed in REST/SOAP services, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and application monitoring with tools like Splunk and AppDynamics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of Java Spring Boot microservices and REST/SOAP-based APIs (synchronous and asynchronous)
  • Collaborate with architecture and DevOps teams to ensure cloud-native deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Provide mentorship, code reviews, and technical guidance to junior developers
  • Write efficient and scalable database queries (both DDL and DML) and ensure performance tuning
  • Manage debugging, triaging, and resolution of technical issues across environments
  • Integrate with messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) to build decoupled applications
  • Implement observability and APM standards using tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, and Prometheus
  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and lead backlog refinement and sprint planning


Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
  • Proficiency in designing and consuming REST and SOAP services (sync & async)
  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g., JMS, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes in a production environment
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex DDL/DML queries
  • Expertise in application monitoring and logging with Splunk, AppDynamics, or similar tools
  • Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams and driving iterative delivery
