Description:

Data Analyst - OnSite at Samaritan Hospital

FT Days/8hr shifts

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director, Professional Practice and Nursing Research, the Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to a healthcare organization's Magnet Recognition Program / Pathways to Excellence application, focusing on key nursing quality metrics to demonstrate high standards of nursing care and patient outcomes, often collaborating with nursing leadership to identify areas for improvement and track progress towards Magnet/PTE designation. The key responsibilities include:

  • Data Collection and Management: Gathering data from various sources like electronic health records, nursing documentation, patient surveys, and staff surveys related to Magnet/PTE criteria.
  • Data Analysis: Performing statistical analysis on collected data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of strength and weakness in nursing practice.
  • Report Generation: Creating comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing key findings and insights for nursing leadership and Magnet/PTE application process.
  • Benchmarking: Comparing nursing practice data to national standards and other Magnet/PTE -designated organizations.
  • Quality Improvement Initiatives: Collaborating with nursing staff to develop and implement evidence-based practices based on data analysis to improve patient care.
  • PTE Application Support: Assisting in the preparation of Magnet/PTE application materials by compiling data and evidence to demonstrate compliance with Magnet/PTE criteria.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years data management experience, preferably in a healthcare related field. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.

Experience Requirements: Demonstrable skills and proficiency with management of multiple databases, including report generation and graphic display/presentation of outcome measurement data. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to a broad range of audiences. Proficiency with Graphs, Charts, Tables, Data Reports, Power Point, Excel required.

Pay Range: $18.26 - $29.46hr

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
