Job Details
Tesla Fremont Plant Engineering is looking for a Crane Engineer to join our team. You will be subject matter expert on existing overhead cranes at Fremont and Lathrop Facilities. You should possess strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering, and crane operations. The role requires the ability to work on complex engineering projects, equipment upgrades and reactive troubleshooting and maintenance support.

Responsibilities
- Technical support: Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders on crane installation, operation, and maintenance
- Project management: Lead or contribute to crane engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule. Provide project coordination with vendors and shops throughout the site. Work independently and in team settings as required by the technical and business needs of site cranes
- Compliance and standards: Stay informed about industry standards, codes, and regulations related to cranes and ensure that designs and operations comply with relevant requirements
- Troubleshooting and maintenance: Investigate and resolve technical issues related to crane operation and maintenance and provide recommendations for improvements. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize reliability and performance. Provide on-site and remote support to reactive and proactive work requests
- Documentation: Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation related to crane design and maintenance activities. Perform field verification of crane configuration and components
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in crane design, operation, and maintenance processes. Prepare and present improvement proposals to site leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or equivalent field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or other engineering disciplines
- 1+ years of experience with bridge cranes or mobile cranes with hands- on expertise
- Familiarity with mobile cranes lifting equipment, or heavy machinery
- Experience with automation and controls
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as ASME B30.2, OSHA regulations, and other applicable codes and standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment; strong communication skills and the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing or automotive production environments
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in crane engineering practices
- Must be able to work at elevated heights

$106,400 - $206,520/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
