Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Location: Greenwood Village, CO (Hybrid: 2-3
days onsite)
Remote option available only for candidates located
in MN or IL; occasional travel for PI planning every 8-10 weeks (client-paid).
About the Role
We're looking for
a Senior Data Engineer to help design and
build scalable, cloud-native data platforms on AWS. This is a hands-on
engineering role where you'll work on modern lakehouse architectures, open
table formats (Iceberg), and compute environments running on EKS/Argo
Workflows.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AWS lakehouse architectures using services like S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, and more.
- Build ETL pipelines and production-grade data workflows.
- Develop modular, testable Python code for data engineering tasks.
- Implement open table formats (Apache Iceberg preferred) with features like time travel and schema evolution.
- Apply Medallion architecture (Bronze ? Silver ? Gold layers).
- Handle Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 2) in distributed systems.
- Collaborate with tech leads, architects, and product managers.
What We're Looking For
- 4-5+ years in data engineering with AWS.
- Advanced Python engineering skills (not SQL-heavy DBA or analyst roles).
- Expertise in AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, etc.).
- Experience with ETL pipelines and orchestration (bonus: EMR on EKS or Argo Workflows).
- Familiarity with open table formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi).
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Nice to Have:
- DataOps practices, CI/CD for data pipelines.
- Terraform or CloudFormation experience.
- Data quality frameworks (Deequ, Great Expectations).
