Job Title: Director of Embedded Software
Job Location: Irvine, CA 92618
Salary: $180,000 - $250,000
Job Type: Direct Hire; 100% Onsite
80% Management // 20% Technical Proficiency
Position Summary:
As the Director of Embedded Software Platform, you will lead engineering strategy, drive technical excellence, and align initiatives with company goals. You will mentor teams, define the technology roadmap, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient systems. Responsibilities include optimizing development processes, managing budgets, and fostering global team coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute a cohesive engineering vision aligned with overall business objectives.
- Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop the technical roadmap, guide architectural decisions, and ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable system designs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Security, and other teams to translate business needs into actionable engineering plans.
- Optimize engineering processes including agile development, CI/CD pipelines, and quality assurance practices.
- Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent to support growth and product innovation.
- Advise executive leadership on engineering progress, risks, and strategic initiatives.
- Manage engineering budgets and resource allocation to ensure efficient and impactful technology investments.
- Coordinate global engineering teams by standardizing workflows, bridging cultural gaps, and promoting knowledge sharing.
- Oversee code and design reviews, enforce quality standards, and drive documentation best practices.
- Lead research and development in embedded systems and edge AI, optimizing neural networks for low-power, resource-constrained devices.
Requirements:
- Bilingual skills in Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in software/hardware engineering, with at least 5+ years in an engineering leadership role.
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong technical background in embedded systems, IoT devices , Smart Camera and or AI technologies.
- Experience managing multiple engineering teams, driving large-scale projects, and ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality products.
