Job Details

Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator
Location: Quincy Massachusetts
Job Type: Long Term Contract
The candidate must have at least seven years of experience in systems administration.
Other required skillsets include ITIL processes, queue management, and contact center applications.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and enhance our organization's IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-level Windows/Linux servers and systems.
  • Design, implement, and support infrastructure solutions, including virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud systems (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and disaster recovery preparedness.
  • Install and configure hardware and software, including upgrades, patches, and security configurations.
  • Implement and enforce IT security best practices, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and roles through Active Directory, LDAP, and other identity services.
  • Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Lead or support major IT projects including migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure deployments.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Mentor and support junior IT staff and provide Tier 3 support for escalated issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to implement and optimize technology solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration in a complex IT environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu), and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, firewalls, and security practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and backup solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and documentation abilities.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft, Red Hat, CompTIA, VMware, AWS).
