Lead API Developer - eCommerce VIN Parts Catalog
Location- [Lisle, IL, 60532] Day 1 onsite
Open for both Subcon and FTE
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands on Lead Developer to drive the design and implementation of APIs for our VIN based parts catalog. This role will lead the technical development of a modular, scalable, and secure eCommerce platform, integrating with Azure API Management (APIM) and leveraging the existing architecture and Java based backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of RESTful APIs to support VIN based parts lookup, shopping cart, and order processing workflows.
- Integrate Azure APIM to manage, secure, and monitor APIs across development and production environments.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to modernize the existing Java/J2EE based catalog system using modular JavaScript and microservices architecture.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions using tools such as SOAP/REST, and secure SSO flows (ADFS, SAML).
- Oversee the migration of legacy scripts into modular components and ensure seamless integration with International s platforms
- Ensure secure and performant API design, including token based authentication, TLS encryption, and SOAP header security
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and contractors.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development, including JSP, Servlets, and Spring Framework.
- Proven experience designing and deploying RESTful APIs and SOAP based services.
- Strong knowledge of Azure API Management (APIM), including policy configuration, gateway deployment, and analytics.
- Experience with RequireJS, jQuery, Bootstrap, and modular JavaScript architecture
- Experience with Oracle or SQL Server databases and WebSphere environments.
- Strong understanding of secure transport (SSL/TLS), WS Security, and SOAP fault handling
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in Azure environments.
- Knowledge of VIN decoding, parts master data, and related automotive domain concepts.
