Job Details

Our client's is launching a strategic transformation building a new Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) culture from the ground up. As one of the first hires in this initiative, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of reliability, observability, and incident response across hundreds of critical banking applications. This is a high-impact opportunity to reduce downtime, improve error budgets, and drive proactive engineering practices across their digital ecosystem.
**Candidatess must be willing to work onsite 4 days per week
**Candidates must be eligible to work W2 - No C2C

Key Responsibilities:
  • Incident Response & MTTR Reduction
    • Lead efforts to reduce Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) across top-tier applications including Zelle and EP&W platforms.
    • Audit and remediate incident playbooks, ensuring rapid and effective response to P1-P3 incidents.
    • Actively participate in major incident calls, providing technical leadership and clarity under pressure.
  • Architecture & Observability
    • Create and maintain End-to-End technical architecture diagrams, mapping critical user journeys across digital, middleware (e.g., MuleSoft), and backend systems.
    • Partner with delivery teams to enhance telemetry and observability, driving proactive detection and root cause analysis.
    • Define and enforce Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) to ensure scalable, resilient systems.
  • Playbook Development
    • Update and standardize incident response playbooks across multiple verticals and CI environments.
    • Coach teams on playbook usage and continuous improvement practices.
  • SRE Practices & Error Budget Management
    • Monitor and reduce error budget consumption, aligning with service level objectives (SLOs) and indicators (SLIs).
    • Drive accountability through data-driven reliability metrics and consequence models.
  • Automation & Tooling
    • Identify gaps in observability and implement solutions using tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
    • Develop automation strategies for incident triage, system monitoring, and recovery workflows.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 8+ years in SRE, observability, and incident response.
  • 5+ years reducing MTTR and managing error budgets.
  • 5+ years working with observability tools (Splunk and/or Dynatrace).
  • 2+ years creating/modifying End-to-End technical diagrams.
  • 2+ years updating playbooks across multiple business units.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.
