A Guidewire PolicyCenter Developer with five years of experience responsible for the design, development, and maintenance on the Guidewire platform. This position requires deep technical expertise and strong knowledge of the insurance domain to implement and customize PolicyCenter modules.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Application Development & Customization: Design, develop, and implement solutions using Guidewire's proprietary language, Gosu, along with Java, to configure PolicyCenter.
- Integration: Lead the integration of PolicyCenter with external systems (e.g., third-party payment gateways, document management systems) using web services like SOAP and REST APIs.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, defects, and performance bottlenecks in the application.
- Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, quality assurance teams, and project managers in an Agile or Scrum environment to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical design documents, system architecture diagrams, and test plans.
- Maintenance & Upgrades: Manage system upgrades, patches, and ongoing maintenance to ensure the stability and security of the PolicyCenter application.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Guidewire developer, with a specific focus on Guidewire PolicyCenter.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Gosu: Advanced knowledge and experience in Gosu development and configuration.
- Java: Strong foundation in Java and the J2EE framework.
- Web Services: Expertise in integrating with external systems using SOAP and REST.
- Databases: Proficiency in SQL and a good understanding of database design principles.
- Development Tools: Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and build automation tools (e.g., Maven, Jenkins).
- Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain, including policy lifecycle management, quoting, underwriting, and rating.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
