Role Overview

As the organization advances its Enterprise Data Platform through a Data Mesh philosophy, it is embracing a Data as a Product mindset creating reusable, business-friendly, scalable, and governed data assets that empower analytics and data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.

The Data Product Manager (DPM) will play a key role in designing, enhancing, and managing these Data Products. This role serves as a bridge between business Product Owners and technical teams, driving the creation of high-value data assets that align with enterprise data strategy and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, definition, and continuous improvement of Data Products that deliver measurable business value and meet enterprise analytics needs.
  • Collaborate with business Product Owners to understand data requirements, priorities, and use cases.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Governance, and the Technical Data Product Manager to bring Data Products from concept to delivery.
  • Define product goals, key metrics, and success criteria aligned with enterprise data strategy and governance principles.
  • Develop and maintain a Data Product roadmap, balancing innovation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and backlog items for technical teams.
  • Promote adoption of Data Products through stakeholder communication, documentation, and enablement activities.
  • Support governance and quality practices to maintain trusted, secure, and well-documented Data Products.
  • Foster a product-thinking culture within the data organization, supporting the overall Data Mesh journey.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, data management, or analytics, with proven experience in cross-functional delivery.
  • Strong understanding of data product design, data governance, and data mesh or distributed data architecture concepts.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and business teams, including Data Engineering, Architecture, and Governance.
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms and tools (e.g., AWS, Redshift, Databricks, Atlan, Soda, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an agile and iterative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Data Mesh implementations or enterprise data platform modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data observability, and data catalog tools.
  • Certification in Product Management or Agile frameworks (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM).
