Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join a medically regulated, 24/7 manufacturing facility in Johns Creek, GA. This 8-month engagement focuses on the investigation, enhancement, and validation of Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC systems, including diagnostics, safety integration, and specification monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PLC Program Development: Design, enhance, test, and validate TwinCAT PLC code and EtherCAT networks.

  • Diagnostics & HMI: Improve EtherCAT diagnostics, HMI messaging, and event logging.

  • Safety System Integration: Enhance and test safety signal logic and failure messaging per industrial safety standards.

  • Monitoring Defeat Mitigation: Investigate monitoring bypasses and implement solutions to prevent out-of-spec production.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Produce high-quality documentation aligned with cGMP and FDA standards.

Deliverables:

  • Version-controlled TwinCAT code with documentation.

  • Detailed investigation and test reports.

  • Updated technical documentation for regulated use.

  • Regular progress reports and final engagement summary.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Beckhoff TwinCAT and EtherCAT protocols.

  • Strong background in PLC safety systems and industrial automation.

  • Proven experience in regulated environments (medical device, pharma, or other cGMP settings).

  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
