SAIC seeks a skilled Systems Engineer proficient in Power Systems Engineering and Analysis to join an exciting program and world-class Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) team in Sterling, VA. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented, action-based self-starter with a willingness to learn and the ability to contribute immediately in fast-paced, adaptive, and innovative team environments. They will possess strong interpersonal and excellent communication (listening, verbal, and written) skills, with the ability to develop positive working relationships with project officers, executive-level leaders, and SETA colleagues throughout the customer organization and industry partners. Job responsibilities include providing technical expertise to a large program delivering innovative high-capacity energy storage and delivery capabilities.
Primary tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Provide Power Systems Engineering and programmatic expertise to support technology systems and requirements development, acquisition, integration, prototyping, testing and evaluation, transition, and deployment activities
- Support technical project and systems engineering management, including Concept of Operations (CONOPs) generation, requirements development, and integrated milestone/schedule development
- Support contract management efforts, including the development of technical contract documents to enable awards to industry partners
- Execute reviews of systems development, technical proposals and papers, and use-case-specific CONOPs to ensure compliance with government requirements and risk tolerances
- Compile findings and present recommendations to government project leads
- Participate in and support system, technical, and program status reviews
- Draft formal presentations, proposals, technical papers, meeting agendas, and other formal communications
- Participate in executive-level meetings, discussions, and program briefings
- Develop well-documented, actionable, measurable, testable, and traceable requirements to identify needs or opportunities, and define them to a level of detail sufficient for system design
- Support development and allocation of system requirements to system components and maintain traceability between user and component-level system requirements
- Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and associated requirements documents
- Provide initial analysis of the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power
- Develop analytic judgments such as relevance or vulnerabilities, and prepare briefings/reports documenting the methodology used and the results obtained
- Perform modeling or testing for performance of the systems, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and relay coordination
- Assist with the assessment of development system design and implementation deliverables
- Review technical challenges and propose recommended courses of action
- Provide technical expertise to provide a detailed understanding of current systems and potential system improvements
- Perform analysis and provide recommendations on contractor designs related to power supplies including but not limited to primary and secondary (rechargeable) cells and battery systems
Qualifications
- Must currently hold a TS/SCI and Poly clearance
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant engineering experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred, although other technical degrees may be considered
- Experience providing full-life cycle Systems Engineering in support of DoD and/or IC programs
- System development experience in environmentally-constrained energy storage and power systems
