Summary
Quality Inspector Receipt Inspection of Materials and Equipment is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to perform receipt inspection of materials and equipment arriving at the Port Arthur facility. The role involves ensuring all incoming materials and equipment comply with project requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in SAP Quality Management (QM) Module, Positive Material Identification (PMI), dimensional measurements, and document reviews, including Manufacturer's Data Books (MDBs), Material Test Certificates (MTCs), and inspection/test records.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Receipt Inspection & Verification:
- Perform receipt inspections of incoming materials and equipment, such as piping, valves, rotating machinery, and other mechanical components, to confirm compliance with purchase order specifications, project standards, and quality requirements.
- Validate the accuracy and completeness of delivery documentation, including purchase orders, material test reports (MTRs), certificates of compliance (COCs), and packing lists.
- Examine materials for physical damage, manufacturing defects, or deviations from specified requirements.
- Conduct Positive Material Identification (PMI) to verify material composition aligns with project and design requirements.
- Take dimensional measurements to ensure materials and equipment conform to design and fabrication specifications
- Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure materials and equipment comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and project specifications (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI).
- Confirm that all materials are traceable and tagged in accordance with project requirements.
- Verify compliance with s quality control procedures and project requirements.
- Documentation Review and Reporting:
- Review and verify documentation such as Manufacturer's Data Books (MDBs), Material Test Certificates (MTCs), inspection and test records, and other supplier-provided quality documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure full traceability of materials and equipment by confirming certificates, markings, and identification tags are accurate and aligned with project requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive and detailed records of inspection findings and results.
- Prepare and submit material and equipment receipt inspection reports to the QA/QC team and relevant project stakeholders.
- Identify non-conformances, document findings, and collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues promptly.
- SAP Quality Management:
- Utilize the SAP Quality Management (QM) Module to track inspection results, document quality records, and manage non-conformances.
- Record inspection findings and generate quality notifications in SAP for non-compliant materials or equipment.
- Non-Conformance Management:
- Identify and document non-conforming materials or equipment, working collaboratively with suppliers or contractors to address and resolve quality issues.
- Coordinate and monitor corrective actions to ensure non-conformances are resolved effectively and within established timelines.
- Prepare and issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) for materials and equipment that dnot meet specified requirements.
- Collaborate closely with procurement, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Communication & Reporting:
- Communicate inspection results and non-conformance issues with the QA/QC Manager and other relevant departments.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including photographs and supporting documentation.
- Inventory Coordination:
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure proper storage and handling of materials and equipment.
- Assist in verifying inventory accuracy by conducting regular spot checks and audits.
- Conduct thorough inspections and validation of all currently held materials in the warehouse to ensure full compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Warehouse and Materials Management team maintain up-to-date documentation, including Certificates of Compliance (CoC), Material Test Reports (MTRs), and other required records
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP QM Module.
- Must be able to work on-site in Port Arthur, Texas.
- Ability to lift and inspect heavy materials as needed.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Proficient in the use of measuring instruments (e.g., callipers, micrometres, gauges) for dimensional inspections.
- Strong knowledge of material specifications, testing standards, and document review processes.
- Proficiency in ASME, API, and other relevant industry codes and standards is essential.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in receipt inspection or quality control in the oil and gas, LNG, or manufacturing industry.
- Hands-on experience with SAP Quality Management (QM) Module is essential.
- Experience with mechanical and piping materials, valves, and rotating equipment inspection
- Experience reviewing Manufacturer s Data Books (MDBs), Material Test Certificates (MTCs), and related inspection/test documentation.
Educational Qualification
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate s or bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications in Welding, Coating, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) are highly desirable.
- Certification in Positive Material Identification (PMI) or equivalent experience is considered an asset.
