Senior Control Engineer – West Texas (Pecos/Monahans Area)

About the Role:

As a Senior Control Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, supporting, and enhancing process control systems across refined products and petrochemical pipeline operations. Your insights will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations while supporting local teams and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for process control systems and instrumentation used in pipeline and refining operations.
  • Lead the design, development, and support of control system projects, including scope definition and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with local operations teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve control systems performance.
  • Develop, review, and maintain documentation adhering to industry standards for control systems, safety systems, and loop tuning.
  • Configure and program PLCs and HMIs, with expertise in Wonderware InTouch and Allen Bradley ControlLogix platforms.
  • Support safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards throughout all project phases.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving control system issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring operational continuity.
  • Travel domestically up to 10% and be available on call 24/7 to support critical operations as needed.
  • Lift and climb as required, with physical readiness to handle equipment and installation tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, or related field) preferred; technical degrees or certifications in instrumentation or electrical disciplines are also acceptable with strong field experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in process control system implementation within upstream/midstream oil & gas production, pipelines, or refining environments; 5 years’ experience considered for highly capable candidates.
  • Demonstrated expertise in configuring and programming HMI and PLC platforms, specifically Wonderware InTouch and Allen Bradley ControlLogix.
  • Proven knowledge of industry standards for documentation, loop tuning, safety system integration, and control security.
  • Strong field experience working directly in oil & gas plants or pipeline facilities—time spent in operational environments is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, operators, contractors, and other stakeholders at all levels.
  • Physical capability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform ladder climbing tasks.
