Job Details

Location/Remote: Hybrid Remote in Reston, VA 20190 (i.e., 3 days onsite/week)

Employment Type: 6-month W-2 contract to hire (will convert to full-time)

Compensation: up to $60/hour W-2; salary range up to $110k upon conversion

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Analyst to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in both the physical and logical aspects of our network infrastructure, particularly within our data center environment. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of network hardware and basic network principles, coupled with the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues and manage hardware lifecycle processes. This role will involve a blend of hands-on hardware work and network administration tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Physically install, configure, and maintain various data center hardware including servers (Dell, HP), network switches and routers (Juniper, Cisco, Arista), and related equipment.
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting and basic diagnostics on servers and networking devices.
  • Execute the physical decommissioning of outdated hardware, including proper removal, documentation, and tracking through the disposal process.
  • Ensure proper cable management and organization within the data center.
  • Perform basic configuration tasks on network devices under guidance.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues at a fundamental level, identifying and resolving problems related to physical connections, basic configurations, and network access.
  • Assist senior network administrators in diagnosing and resolving more complex network issues.
  • Monitor network performance and identify potential bottlenecks or issues.
  • Support network-related projects, including hardware deployments and upgrades.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of data center related projects.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a network support or data center environment.
  • Familiarity with the hardware of various vendors including Dell and HP servers, and Juniper, Cisco, and Arista networking equipment.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing principles.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues.
  • Experience with physical hardware installation, cabling, and decommissioning processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in tracking hardware and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and problem-solving attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA).
  • Experience with data center best practices.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems.
  • Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for basic automation tasks.
