Description
We are looking for a talented Data Catalog Administrator to oversee and enhance our enterprise data catalog platform. This position focuses on managing metadata, ensuring robust data governance, and enabling seamless data discovery and lineage tracking across the organization. As a long-term contract position based in Columbus, Ohio, this role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams to elevate data accessibility and governance.
Responsibilities:
Administer and configure the enterprise Data Catalog platform, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
Integrate the platform with various data sources, databases, data lakes, and business intelligence tools.
Monitor system health, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement configuration optimizations.
Manage metadata ingestion, curation, and classification to improve data discovery and accessibility.
Collaborate with data governance teams to enforce policies, standards, and lineage tracking protocols.
Develop and implement role-based access controls and data security measures.
Work with business units and technical teams to drive platform adoption and promote data literacy.
Conduct training sessions and create documentation to support users in leveraging the platform effectively.
Recommend and implement platform improvements by evaluating new features and automating tasks through scripts and APIs.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data governance and cataloging.
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience administering data catalog platforms such as Alation, Atlan, or similar tools.
Strong knowledge of metadata management, data governance, and data lineage.
Familiarity with databases and data warehousing tools like Snowflake, BigQuery, and SQL Server.
Understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve integration or performance challenges in the data catalog.
Experience with APIs, scripting languages like Python, and automation of catalog-related tasks.
Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
Proficiency in business intelligence tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker is a plus.
