Title: Senior BDA/DAS Lead Technician (In-Building Wireless and Public Safety Specialist)
Location: 8240 Vicela Drive, Units 2 & 3, Sarasota, FL
Duration: Long-term: 6 12 months
Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 08:00 17:00
Work Location: Hybrid- onsite and remote (Field-based, indoor/outdoor, variable conditions, hands-on technical work)
Travel to customer locations (mileage/airfare, hotel, and food provided)

Summary
The Senior BDA/DAS Lead Technician is a highly experienced, subject matter expert responsible for the end-to-end management, quality assurance, and execution of complex Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) and Distributed Antenna System (DAS) installations. This role serves as the on-site technical authority and primary mentor, directly training and guiding junior technicians, ensuring all Public Safety (ERCES/ERRCS) and Commercial Cellular projects achieve compliance, carrier-grade quality, and on-time completion. This is a crucial leadership position dedicated to technical excellence and team development.
Key Responsibilities
I. Technical Mastery & Quality Assurance (The Expert)
Commissioning & Optimization: Lead the final commissioning, integration, and optimization of multi-carrier and public safety BDA/DAS systems (e.g., CommScope, ADRF, SOLiD, JMA, etc.).
Advanced Testing & Analysis: Perform and critically analyze PIM (Passive Intermodulation), Sweep/VSWR, and OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) measurements. Utilize specialized test equipment (e.g., Anritsu Site Master, PCTEL analyzers, JDSU) to certify system performance and resolve complex signal integrity issues.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Serve as the final escalation point for diagnosing and resolving intermittent or sophisticated RF coverage, fiber optic, and head-end equipment failures.
Compliance Leadership: Ensure strict adherence to NFPA 72, 1221, and 1225, IFC, NEC, and all local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. Oversee the preparation and successful execution of AHJ acceptance testing.
Design Interpretation: Proficiently read, interpret, and validate iBwave design files, construction blueprints, and schematics, providing necessary field adjustments and communicating deviations to the Project Manager.
II. Leadership, Mentorship, & Training (The Mentor)
Team Supervision & Mentorship: Actively mentor, coach, and provide structured, hands-on training to junior and mid-level technicians on proper installation techniques, safety protocols, equipment handling, and advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
On-Site Project Management: Lead daily on-site project operations, coordinating tasks, managing resource allocation, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment for the installation team and subcontractors.
Quality Control: Implement and enforce rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) checks throughout the installation process to minimize rework and guarantee first-pass system acceptance.
Code Education: Proactively educate team members on the latest Public Safety code updates and best practices for compliance documentation.
III. Documentation & Stakeholder Communication
Project Closeout: Own the creation of comprehensive final project documentation, including test result packages, commissioning reports, detailed close-out photos, and accurate red-line drawings.
Client Interface: Serve as the primary technical interface for Project Managers, General Contractors, RF Engineers, building owners, and AHJ representatives, clearly articulating system status, technical challenges, and solutions.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Experience: 10+ years of deep, hands-on experience in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Public Safety (BDA) and Commercial Cellular DAS.
Certifications (Required):
o NICET In-Building Public Safety (IB-PCS) Level II or higher is Mandatory.
o OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Card.
o Active/Current OEM certification on at least two major BDA/DAS platforms (e.g., CommScope, SOLiD, ADRF, JMA).
Certifications (Preferred):
o OEM Level Certification from Comba, ADRF, Solid, JMA
o Manufacturer-specific Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing Certification.
Technical Expertise: Expert-level skill in all RF and fiber testing procedures (Sweep/PIM/OTDR).
Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated history of successfully leading field teams, acting as a site supervisor, or providing formal technical training.
Systems Knowledge: Expert proficiency in IP interfaces for GUI-programmable systems and advanced knowledge of DC power plants and low-voltage circuits.
