Job Details
Minimum Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience supporting IBM i systems as system administrator.
Hands on experience in IBM iSeries administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience in AS400 Security Management, Communications, Operating System Upgrades and PTF deployment, Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (iASP's), and Storage Based Replication
- Experience in Backup and Recovery Media Services (BRMS).
- Monitor and manage backups, Installation of cumulative PTFs and upgrade packages. Perform operating system and/or application software updates in a timely and thoughtful fashion and in compliance with IT policies, procedures, and plans.
- Knowledge of IBM iSeries networked systems, access and security guideline and procedures. iSeries PTF management, OS and hardware upgrade.
- Able to recover the system during the disaster situation using system backups.
- Experience on OS upgrade and hardware migration.
- Handling hardware related issues (Tape Library, Hardware management console, disk. failures etc) backup issues.
- Able to handle DR activities /Patch Upgradation Activities.
- Demonstrable skills in OS level encryption, disk configuration and management.
- Strong Experience in Robot/Jobs Setup.
- Strong experience in Implementer setup integrated with Synon models.
- Able to check errors and logs while running batch jobs. Check system operator message queue for any error condition.
- Research and implement appropriate System Administration best practices, and tools.
Checking system operator messages and problem log for SRC code.
- Proven experience in IBM I, OS - V7R1,V7R2,V7R3 and hardware Power 7, 7+, 8 systems.
- Able to take full system backups and perform IPL independently.
