Job Summary as a Senior Microsoft Power BI Analytics Engineer to spearhead the development and optimization of our data visualization and business intelligence solutions. This pivotal role demands a robust understanding of Power BI, coupled with expertise in data modeling, SQL, and ETL processes, to effectively transform raw data into insightful, actionable intelligence. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to champion data-driven decision making within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Intelligence & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and craft compelling BI solutions.
- Analyze complex business scenarios to derive actionable insights.
- Exhibit proactive problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrate exemplary communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Conduct Power BI training sessions and mentor team members on best practices.
- Create self-service BI tools to enhance business user independence with data.
2. Power BI Development & Data Visualization
- Design and implement interactive Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Execute data modeling, DAX calculations, and performance optimizations.
- Uphold best practices in data visualization for clear, impactful insights.
- Implement and manage RLS and OLS for robust data security.
- Continuously improve BI tools to adapt to changing business requirements.
3. Data Modeling & Integration
- Design and maintain efficient data models (star/snowflake schemas).
- Work closely with data engineers to optimize ETL processes and data refresh strategies.
- Integrate Power BI with diverse data sources such as SQL databases, Azure Data Lake, and APIs.
Manage Power BI Dataflows for effective data transformation.
4. SQL & ETL Expertise
- Develop and refine complex SQL queries for data analysis.
- Leverage Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, and cloud data warehouses for advanced data solutions.
- Support data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to maintain data integrity.
5. Power BI Administration & Governance
- Administer Power BI workspaces, permissions, and security configurations.
- Establish guidelines for data governance, compliance, and performance optimization.
- Monitor, diagnose, and rectify issues related to report refreshes, performance, and data discrepancies.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in Power BI development, specializing in dashboard creation and data modeling.
- Expertise in DAX, Power Query, and SQL.
- Strong foundation in data warehousing and ETL methodologies.
- Proficiency with Azure cloud services, Power Automate, and REST APIs.
- Comprehensive understanding of data governance and security protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: PL300 (Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst), DP600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate), DP700 (Fabric Data Engineer Associate).
- Proficiency in scalable BI solutions, Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, and scripting with Python or R.
