Job Title: Tableau to Looker Migration Consultant Google Cloud Platform

Location: Irving TX or Basking Ridge, NJ

Duration: 12 months

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Consultant with proven expertise in migrating Tableau dashboards and data models to Looker (LookML), leveraging Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in BI modernization, data modeling, and visualization optimization, with deep familiarity in both Tableau and Looker ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end migration of existing Tableau dashboards, workbooks, and data sources to Looker.
  • Rebuild and optimize visualizations using LookML models, Explores, and Dashboards.
  • Analyze Tableau reports, identify dependencies, and plan effective migration strategy on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to validate data pipelines and schemas in BigQuery.
  • Implement data governance, access controls, and folder structures within Looker.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and performance of migrated reports.
  • Support UAT, documentation, and user enablement for Looker adoption.
  • Optimize queries and dashboards for performance and scalability on Google Cloud Platform.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Data Visualization.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Tableau and Looker (LookML).
  • Proven expertise in Tableau to Looker migration projects.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills; ability to design semantic layers and reusable datasets.
  • Solid understanding of Google Cloud Platform ecosystem especially BigQuery, Dataform / dbt, and GCS.
  • Experience in dashboard performance tuning, report validation, and visualization best practices.
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control, CI/CD for Looker deployment, and API usage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with other BI tools (Power BI, Data Studio).
  • Exposure to Python scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of DataOps practices and Looker API / SDK integration.
  • Google Cloud Platform Certification (Data Engineer or Cloud Architect) preferred.
