What You Will Achieve

The Chemical Process and Analytical Development (CPAD) department at Pfizer is seeking a Principal Scientist to discover and develop robust and innovative synthetic routes to novel Drug-Linkers to drive the next generation of targeted cancer therapy. As a Principal Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and find that everything we do is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will drive the development of safe and scalable chemistry by leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as continuous processing, high-throughput experimentation, data-rich experimentation, catalysis, and predictive technologies. You will spearhead the advancement of Pfizer's portfolio through personal laboratory effort as well as overseeing internal and external resources. You will serve as a technical and strategic leader for early and late-phase programs while mentoring junior staff members and promoting a supportive and inclusive work environment. You may directly supervise staff and drive the development of those employees. You will propose technical and strategic solutions to Sr. management and represent process chemistry in cross-functional teams requiring excellent communication skills. You will establish an external presence as technical leader in the field by authoring journal articles and presenting at leading external scientific meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute well-planned laboratory experiments that require complex data analysis
  • Be recognized as a technical leader internally and externally by d emonstrating advanced intellectual and technical abilities
  • Employ state-of-the art technologies, including flow chemistry, high-throughput experimentation, catalysis, data-rich experimentation, computational tools, and predictive tools
  • Be familiar with early and late phase pharmaceutical development and regulatory expectations
  • Contribute directly to technology transfer to internal sites or external vendors
  • Leverage knowledge and experience to guide cross-functional teams on impact of decisions
  • Effectively manage CRO/CMO resources
  • Maintain high standards for all laboratory records, reports, patents, and external communications
  • Establish and deliver on tight timelines aligned with our portfolio goals
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to advocate for our department and group members
  • Communicate difficult concepts, ideas, problems, and solutions persuasively to project teams, leadership, and cross-functional teams
  • Author publications, patents, regulatory submissions and present externally
  • Provide career development coaching, mentoring, and feedback to junior staff and direct reports
  • Promote a supportive and inclusive work environment
  • Maintain an understanding of the activities and research executed by the group members
  • Experience in targeted therapeutics industry is a plus
Education And Experience
  • PhD in Organic Chemistry with 5+ years of industrial experience or a Master's degree and 14+ years of experience
  • This is an on-site designated role, and you will work five days per week on-site
Physical/Mental Requirements

This is a laboratory based role requiring light lifting and manual laboratory work 4-8 hours per day.

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel or Environment Requirements

This is a salaried role that can, but infrequently requires nights or weekend to achieve a timeline.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,900.00 to $166,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
