Salary: $75.00 USD Hourly - $85.00 USD Hourly
Description:
Join a leading public-sector wireless modernization initiative as a senior Cisco Wireless Engineer. You'll drive the migration from legacy controllers to Cisco's modern 9800-series platform, collaborate closely with junior engineers conducting site surveys, and ensure enterprise-grade Wi-Fi performance across multiple locations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, deployment, configuration, and tuning of Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Migrate wireless infrastructure from legacy Cisco controllers to the 9800 platform
  • Partner with junior engineers collecting Ekahau site-survey data; ingest survey maps into controller designs
  • Configure Cisco Catalyst Center for centralized management and monitoring of APs and controllers
  • Develop and maintain wireless standards, configuration guides, and operational runbooks
  • Troubleshoot complex RF, roaming, and controller-AP communication issues
  • Conduct performance validation, capacity planning, and RF optimization activities


Minimum qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco wireless LAN architectures
  • Proven track record deploying and migrating to Cisco 9800-series controllers
  • Proficiency with Ekahau Pro (site surveys, heat-maps, predictive modeling)
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (including the Prime-replacement module)
  • Strong understanding of 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards, RF design principles, and security best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including production of design and operations documentation
  • Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff


Preferred qualifications
  • Cisco CWNP certifications (e.g., CWSP, CWDP) or CCNP/CCIE Wireless
  • Familiarity with Catalyst 9000-series switching and DNA Center
  • Background in public-sector or enterprise-scale wireless projects
  • Understanding of network automation tools (Python, Ansible)
