Job Title: Lead AWS developer with Gen AI
Mode: Contract
Locations: Portland, OR(Day1 onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Lead with strong expertise in AWS Cloud and hands-on Generative AI (GenAI) implementation across AWS, or Azure, or Google Cloud. This role combines technical leadership, architecture guidance, and people management to drive scalable, secure, and high-value AI and cloud initiatives. The Tech Lead will be responsible for guiding a cross-functional team in designing, implementing, and scaling GenAI use cases aligned with business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and data scientists delivering AI and cloud solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders (business, governance, security, and officer teams) to align technical delivery with organizational objectives.
Foster a culture of innovation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Translate business needs into actionable technical roadmaps and use case pipelines.
Cloud & Architecture
Serve as the hands-on AWS Cloud expert, with deep knowledge of services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, Bedrock, Sage Maker, DynamoDB, RDS, API Gateway, and IAM.
Architect and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions supporting AI and analytics workloads.
Collaborate with governance and security teams to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
Lead efforts in templating architecture and establishing reusable frameworks for AI and cloud adoption.
Generative AI & Advanced Analytics
Drive design and implementation of GenAI solutions using AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent.
Evaluate, prototype, and operationalize use cases for GenAI that reduce repetitive manual tasks, improve efficiency, and generate measurable business value.
Guide teams on prompt engineering, fine-tuning, guardrails, and ethical AI practices.
Establish metrics to measure success across AI use case lifecycles from ideation through production scale.
Strategic Contributions
Partner with leadership to define the GenAI roadmap and enable scale-up by 2026.
Identify opportunities to increase process efficiency and streamline workflows with AI.
Stay ahead of emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies for next-generation AI platforms.
Support proof-of-concepts (POCs) and advise on new tools (e.g., Amazon Q, Copilot, Vertex AI extensions).
Qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
12+ years of IT experience, with at least 8+ years in AWS Cloud architecture and development.
Proven track record in leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions.
Hands-on GenAI experience on at least one of AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker), Azure (OpenAI Service), or Google Cloud (Vertex AI).
Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and integration.
Familiarity with AI governance, security frameworks, and risk management.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical discussions.
