Technical Skills (From SDET Experience):
  • Software Development Concepts:
    Understanding coding, deployment, and Agile methodologies is essential.
  • Team's Technology Stack:
    Familiarity with the programming languages, tools, and frameworks used by the team is key.
  • Agile Engineering Practices:
    Understanding Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Code Reviews is important.
  • Test Automation:
    Knowledge of test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress) and tools is valuable.
  • Version Control:
    Proficiency in Git or other version control systems is crucial for SDETs and essential for teamwork in Agile.
Scrum Master Skills (Leadership, Facilitation, Project Management):
  • Scrum Knowledge:
    Thorough understanding of the Scrum framework, its principles, values, and practices.
  • Facilitation:
    Ability to lead Scrum events (e.g., Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospective) and guide discussions.

    Understanding of project management principles, even though Scrum de-emphasizes traditional project management roles.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate communication and collaboration within the team and with stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Coaching:
    Ability to lead, coach, and mentor the development team, helping them achieve their goals.
  • Conflict Resolution:

  • Organizational Skills:

Senior SDET to Scrum Master - Additional Considerations:
  • Strategic Thinking:
    As a senior leader, understanding the broader strategic direction of the project and influencing organizational change is important.
  • Mentoring:
    Ability to mentor other Scrum Masters and Agile practitioners within the organization.
  • Influence:
    Ability to influence other stakeholders and ensure buy-in for Scrum practices.
  • Servant Leadership:
    A senior Scrum Master will likely need to take on more of a servant leadership role, prioritizing the needs of the team and fostering a positive work environment.
