Design System Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in downtown San Francisco, FL who is seeking a Design System Engineer to join their team on a long-term contracting basis. This is a hybrid position that requires candidates work onsite Monday through Thursday in San Francisco. In terms of what to expect, this candidate will maintain and continue to grow their reusable library of UI components, design guidelines, and patterns to create consistent and scalable user experiences.

Responsibilities include:
* Collaborating with design and development teams to ensure adherence to design standards, and champion best practices for design and engineering
* Maintaining and continuing to build upon their robust, scalable design system: Creating and updating UI components, design patterns, and documentation
* Ensuring consistency and adoption: Act as an advocate for design system best practices, contributing to documentation and training materials to help teams understand and utilize the system effectively.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams: Work closely with product designers, UX researchers, and engineers to ensure the design system meets the needs of both users and the organization
* Improving accessibility and performance: Ensure that design system components are accessible and performant and actively seek ways to optimize them
* Providing technical guidance: Be able to provide guidance to other engineers on design system best practices
* Staying up to date with industry trends: Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and design methodologies

REQUIREMENTS:
* 2-4 years of experience maintaining & scaling design systems
* Strong understanding of front-end development principles and component-driven architecture
* Proficiency in React and/or Vue as well as TypeScript and TailwindCSS
* Hands-on Experience with Figma and Storybook
* Creative mindset with foundational understanding of design methods and principles is key
* Ability to debug, optimize, and troubleshoot design system components
* Knowledge of accessibility principles (ARIA, WCAG)
* Ability and willingness to work onsite Monday through Thursday (Work from home on Fridays)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
