Description

SAIC is looking for a well-qualified, Maritime Technology Systems Engineer to join an exciting program in Springfield, VA supporting the planning, initiation, and execution of new technology projects, to include providing a broad spectrum of project management functions and contracts management support. The successful candidate will lead support efforts to develop innovative Concepts of Operation to address emergent threats by exploiting opportunities in the maritime environment. The desired outcome is to support development of robust new customer capabilities coordinating with key senior stakeholders, performers, and others across the program and the broader community.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support technical project management and systems engineering tasks including CONOPs generation, requirements development, performance work statements development, and integrated milestone/schedule development.
  • Participate in system, technical, and program status reviews. Interface and collaborate with program and performer personnel across the organization to ensure effective communication to support the effective development and transition of technology.
  • Provide high-level systems engineering and programmatic expertise to support technology system(s) and requirements development, acquisition, integration, prototyping, testing and evaluation, transition, and deployment activities.
  • Work with government project officers and leadership to translate intent in short and long term (multi-year) strategies, annual technology roadmaps, action plans, and resource allocation decisions; track milestones and evaluate progress toward the customer's strategy and framework objectives.
  • Execute reviews of systems development, technical proposals and papers, and use-case specific CONOPs to ensure compliance with government requirements and risk tolerances; compile findings and present recommendations to government project leads in formal reports.
  • Track tasks, actions, and pending decisions; coordinate with a larger cross-functional team to compile responses to customer tasks, meet suspense dates for actions and prepare program leaders for executive-level decision points (internal and external).
  • Travel (10-15%) outside assigned work area.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or operations research and nine (9) years of related experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of nine (9) years or more of experience providing technical project management and systems engineering in support of DoD and/or IC programs; at least 5 years or more in Science and Technology and/or Research and Development project management.
  • System development and/or field experience in any of the following areas: unmanned underwater vehicles, robotics, autonomous systems, underwater communications, GPS denied navigation, acoustic systems, and/or underwater power systems.
  • Diplomatic, tactful, and strong interpersonal and professional skills to work effectively in politically sensitive environments.

Required Clearance:

  • An active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (TS/SCI).
  • The ability to complete a counter-intelligence scope polygraph (post-hire).

Desired Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret clearance with access to SCI and CI Polygraph.
  • Advanced degree in a scientific or technical field (Physics, Engineering, Operations Research).
  • PMP and/or other professional certifications.
