Location: Hybrid Reston, VA (Onsite 3 days a week)
Assignment duration: 12-Month Contract (with potential for extension)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join our Enterprise Technology Architecture (ETA) organization's Automation Team at Fannie Mae. This role is heavily focused on production support automation and requires a strong backend development background with hands-on experience in Python and AWS.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and enhance automation solutions to streamline production support processes.
Maintain and improve existing automation tools and scripts.
Collaborate with application teams to translate manual knowledge articles into automated solutions.
Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint ceremonies, and routine team meetings.
Be available for periodic on-call support rotations as part of the "You Build, You Operate" (YBYO) model.
Required Qualifications:
8 10 years of overall development experience.
4 5 years of recent, hands-on Python development (not scripting).
2 3 years of experience with AWS and its services, especially using the Boto3 library.
Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, serverless computing, and AWS Lambda.
Experience with backend development; front-end experience with React is a plus.
Comfortable working in agile teams and participating in the full SDLC.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices such as Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.
AWS certifications are a plus, but practical experience is more highly valued.
Prior experience working in a production support automation environment.
