Scope of Work/Job Characteristics
The Quality Assurance Analyst will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
- Develop and execute formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality software applications;
- Participate in test planning, writing test cases/scripts, and executing tests to validate software functionality;
- Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results, and test status;
- Collect and analyze data for software process evaluation and integrate findings into business processes to address business needs;
- Document all defects and assist in their resolution to maintain high software quality;
- Deliver quality process and tools training to technical and business staff to enhance team capabilities;
- Act as an internal quality consultant to advise or influence business or technical partners on best practices;
- Create and update test plans, test strategies, and test cases based on software requirements, maintaining the requirement traceability matrix;
- Design, develop, and execute User Acceptance, System Integration, and Functional test cases;
- Document and track defects using bug tracking systems and report them to developers for timely resolution;
- Support end-users with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by ensuring understanding of test scripts, success criteria, and use of test management tools, while providing ongoing support during the UAT process;
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure software meets requirements and quality standards;
- Identify potential risks and issues early in the development process to mitigate impact on project delivery;
- Evaluate software performance under various conditions, such as load and stress, using the designated performance testing tool for the IT team;
- Ensure that new code changes do not negatively impact existing functionality through thorough regression testing, and maintain access to archived applications for historical reference;
- Document test results, defects, and test procedures using the Test Management tool (OpenText Application Lifecycle Management [ALM]); and
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices as defined by the OIT team.
NOTE: This position is designated as "essential staff" and is expected to report for duty when instructed to do so in times of emergency or potential emergency as required by Rule 33-208.002 (4), F.A.C.
Requirements/Qualifications
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or related field or five (5) years of equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.
The Department requires the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems development, testing, and/or business experience;
- Ensure software functions according to defined business processes and requirements before release;
- Validate that software integrates seamlessly with existing IT systems and infrastructure;
- Develop, execute, and maintain detailed test cases for enterprise applications and system integration projects;
- Identify, document, and report software defects, collaborating with development teams to resolve issues;
- Utilize both manual and automated testing methods to verify software functionality, system integrations, performance, and usability;
- Review and analyze requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback;
- Participate in test planning, estimation, and risk assessment activities for assigned projects;
- Track and report on testing progress, defect status, and overall software quality to stakeholders;
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies;
- Ensure all testing activities comply with organizational quality standards and best practices;
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle, testing methodologies (manual and automated), and different types of testing (business process, functional, integration, regression, performance, security, etc.);
- Proven ability to define test plans, test cases, execute tests, manage defects, and report results in an enterprise application development environment;
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with leading Test Management tools, such as OpenText ALM;
- Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders;
- Keen attention to detail to identify even minor defects, leveraging prior experiences and lessons learned;
- Ability to evaluate information, assess risks, and work with the project team to make sound judgments; and
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet project milestones and deadlines.
NOTE: In addition to the above list, the selected Candidate must successfully complete a Level II Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
The Department prefers the Candidates to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
- Industry certifications related to software testing, such as International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB), Certified Software Tester (CSTE), Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), and Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA).
