Job Details

Role: eCommerce Lead

Location: San Ramon, CA (Onsite)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end architecture and technology direction for enterprise eCommerce platforms.
  • Work hands-on with platforms like Shopify (preferred), HCL Commerce, SFCC, or ATG.
  • Drive modernization initiatives from monolithic to composable commerce architecture.
  • Design and implement scalable, event-driven systems using AWS, NodeJS, and microservices.
  • Ensure platform reliability through knowledge of CDN, caching, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Optimize communication flows using Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, Pub/Sub, etc.
  • Own delivery quality through code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, and DevOps best practices.
  • Guide a high-velocity team working with React, TypeScript, GraphQL, REST, HTML/CSS, and modern JS frameworks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business teams, and clients to prioritize and deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a distributed engineering team, driving best practices and technical mentorship.
  • Oversee integration with key systems including PIM, OMS, Payment Gateways, Fraud Detection, Tax, and Shipping.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in the eCommerce domain, with a comprehensive view of platform subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience with composable commerce, cloud architecture (AWS), and NodeJS-based services.
  • Strong understanding of REST, GraphQL, JSON, XML, and front-end technologies like React/TypeScript.
  • Expertise in message brokers (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS) and event-driven patterns.
  • Familiarity with CMS tools (e.g., Builder.io) and search systems (e.g., Bloom reach).
  • Strong foundation in CI/CD, Git-based workflows, release planning, and Scrum practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in Shopify, cross-border commerce, and composable decomposition strategies.
  • Exposure to modern frontend tooling (Webpack, Babel).
  • Prior experience working with high-scale, global eCommerce ecosystems.
