Job Description
The Analytics, Performance, and Management Unit is a 25-person technology and strategy team situated in the Executive Division of the NYC Department of Transportation. The unit contains five main technical branches: Application Development, Analytics, Hosting and Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and GIS and Spatial Data. This Deputy Director position will lead the Data Engineering and Hosting branches, totaling 5 staff.
The Deputy Director will directly manage all technical staff in the two branches and serve as lead technical project manager and business analyst for all development projects. The position will be responsible for the unit's database environment (MS SQL Server), data lake environment (Snowflake), ETL environment (Azure Functions/Airflow/Snowflake) and hosting environment (on-prem servers, AWS ECS and various Azure services). The position will be directly responsible for the success of critical agency technical projects including Outdoor Dining Application and Enforcement Tracking, Electric Vehicle Charging Network Expansion, Automated Enforcement data management and modeling, PAR process workflows and data management and the migration of applications and data engineering operations hosting to the cloud. The position will also be responsible for managing all database development and administration for application development projects in the unit and will work alongside the front-end developers to co-lead these projects.
The Deputy Director will also serve as one of two deputies to the Chief Data Officer (CDO) who oversees the entirety of the unit's technical operations. This responsibility includes filling in for the CDO in high level meetings, managing communication with executive stakeholders, addressing personnel matters, and advising on technical strategy and vision setting.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
