Build the Engine Behind the Map. We're seeking a GIS Sustainment Engineer to power the spatial intelligence that drives critical decisions. You'll design and deliver robust, scalable services for ingesting, storing, and querying geospatial data at scale. If you thrive on solving complex backend challenges and believe geospatial can change the game-let's build something that matters. Note: ship and an active TS/SCI clearance is mandatory for this position. Must be open to CI Poly.
Location: Herndon, VA, Westminster, CO. This is a full-time onsite position; hybrid/remote work not supported.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support the deployment, integration, and ongoing operation of enterprise GIS tools, with a focus on Esri Enterprise and open-source technologies.
- Collaborate with software and systems engineers to integrate, document, and support analytic capabilities within for geospatial use case.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across commercial and open-source technology stack, including networking, automation workflows, and infrastructure components.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and collaboration across roles.
Skills Required
- 4+ years of technical experience in deploying and maintaining GIS capabilities into operations:
- Demonstrated experience with transitioning and maintaining software solutions with the Esri Enterprise stack in secure environments
- Proficiency with some of the following languages: Python, R, Java, JavaScript, bash
- Commercial, open source, and custom application deployments and maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated experience with LINUX system administration and scripting
- Capable of working effectively with a geographically distributed ops & development team
- Communicates effectively with customers and team in written and oral forums
- Willingness to work onsite 80% or as needs dictate
- Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a technical field.
- Active TS/SCI clearance and ship
- 4-year degree in GIS or engineering science (or equivalent experience)
Additional Skills Desired
- Experience with
- Common industry principles and DevSecOps
- Postgres design and optimization
- Distributed processing methods and tools, such as REST APIs, microservices, IaaS/PaaS services.
- Developing and deploying web services.
- Working with open-source resources in a government computing environment
- Big data technologies such as Accumulo, Spark, Hive, Hadoop, ElasticSearch
- Strong Linux skills and familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-prem architecture.
- CompTIA Security+ or comparable certification for privileged user access.
- Experience as a military/intelligence analyst, supporting the military/IC, or knowledge of some IC PED systems is a plus!
