RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Database Administrator in Jacksonville, FL.
Summary:
As a Mid-Level Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the availability, performance, and security of our SQL Server database infrastructure. You will manage database environments, implement backup and recovery strategies, and ensure optimal database performance to support our healthcare billing operations. This role focuses on database administration, infrastructure maintenance, and operational reliability while supporting development teams with database design and optimization guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Administer and maintain SQL Server database instances across production, staging, and development environments
* Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies; Perform regular testing of recovery procedures
* Manage lower environment refreshes, data masking, and environment synchronization processes
* Monitor database health, performance metrics, and resource utilization; Proactively identify and resolve issues
* Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access management, role-based permissions, and audit compliance
* Perform database maintenance tasks including index optimization, statistics updates, and integrity checks
* Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime
* Configure and manage database high availability solutions (Always On, mirroring, log shipping, replication)
* Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, query bottlenecks, and blocking problems
* Create and maintain SSIS packages that support operational processes and data integration workflows
* Collaborate with development teams on database design, schema changes, and query optimization
* Maintain database documentation including runbooks, configurations, and operational procedures
* Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours database support
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
* 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server
* Experience with SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies
* Strong expertise in SQL Server backup/recovery strategies, database maintenance plans, and disaster recovery procedures
* Solid understanding of database security principles, permissions management, and compliance requirements
* Knowledge of SQL Server monitoring tools and DMVs for performance diagnostics
* Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan analysis
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
