QA Test Engineer (Focus on Guidewire & Playwright Automation)

Summary
The QA Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software by designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test suites. This role focuses primarily on using Playwright for front-end and API automation and integrating these tests into CI/CD pipelines. A significant component of the role involves specialized testing for Guidewire implementations. The engineer will collaborate closely across agile teams to verify requirements, enhance testability, and minimize release risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation & Testing Excellence
- Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive automated tests using Playwright for web, cross-browser, and API testing.
- Design and validate complex functional, regression, and edge-case test scenarios, implementing robust data-driven testing strategies.
- Conduct API testing and backend validations, ensuring application data integrity and performance.
- Apply basic SQL knowledge for database validation and data management.
- Guidewire Platform Specialization
- Provide hands-on testing expertise for Guidewire implementations, including PolicyCenter and BillingCenter.
- Validate Guidewire core architecture, ratings, integrations, and configurations.
- Test and verify successful data migrations, platform upgrades, and system customizations.
- CI/CD Integration & Process
- Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, specifically Gitlab and Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Configure automated execution schedules, monitor reliability of test runs, and efficiently troubleshoot pipeline failures.
- Adhere to best practices for code quality by participating in code reviews for both application and test code.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Managers and Business Analysts to thoroughly understand and verify story requirements.
- Work with Developers to clarify functionality, improve test coverage, and provide constructive feedback on testability.
- Communicate test results, quality metrics, risks, and defects (e.g., in Jira) clearly and professionally to technical and business stakeholders.
- Actively participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies.

Education & Competencies
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
