Rate: $70/hour on C2C or $60/hour on W2

The General Government Delivery Center (GGDC) is seeking a motivated and skilled SQL Server and Database Administrator for all PDE Applications/SQL Servers. This individual will need to work independently as assignments are given as well as in a team setting working with Database Administrators, Developers of various skill levels, and with Networking/Server teams.They will be responsible for Database Support as well as SQL Server Administration.

This individual will be primary supporting eGrants, the Consolidated Financial Reporting System (CFRS), Education Data and Calculations (EDC), the Teacher Information Management System (TIMS), the Professional Education Record Management System (PERMS), the Nonpublic Information Management System (NPIS) databases, as well as the CFRS data mart and the PIMS PS Schema used for TIMS/PIMS reporting. This includes designing, implementing, and updating the physical structures as required; migrating, loading, and correcting data as required; monitoring and tuning database performance; ensuring data security and integrity. It also includes assisting with the administration of other databases as assigned.

They will also serve as a backup for the chief of the database administration section when required.

Responsibilities:

Perform database management activities using Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019

Install database software

Analyze, design, and review logical and physical data models

Support the application system development life cycle.

Perform data analysis and correction activities

Load data tables and perform data migration sfrom one database structure to another

Review and migrate stored procedures;recommend improvements to enhance performance

Write and Use SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and PowerShell Scripts

Follow and help enforce established PDE database standards.

Monitor database performance and space requirements and give recommendations to improve

Analyze and resolve database performance issues

Assist with conversions from older SQL versions to current version

Maintain database access security and database integrity

Help ensure databases are backed up appropriately and can be restored if necessary

Assist with database server infrastructure and software analysis and recommendations

Conduct work in a team environment

Use strong communication skills; both written and spoken

Determine time estimates and schedule for own work

Use Azure DevOps for source control, manage work items, for documentation versioning, and to report time spent on all assigned work item activities

Complete assigned work activities; Anticipate and resolve issues in a timely manner

Communicate accurate and useful status updates to the Database Administration Section Chief, and to each Application Lead analysts/project managers

Execute all assigned responsibilities with little direct supervision from the Database Administration Section Chief

Represent DBA staff at status meetings and other meetings as requested

Keep current with the features of new database releases and related database products and make recommendations as to their use

Make recommendations on best practices and improvements surrounding database administration practices
