Job Details

We are seeking a Senior z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer with deep technical expertise in IBM z/OS environments to join our team on a long-term contract

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard system programming activities such as configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E.

  • Install and maintain vendor and ISV software in mainframe environments.

  • Conduct z/OS operating system upgrades and RSU maintenance using z/OSMF Workflow.

  • Architect, install, and configure complex z/OS environments and third-party software.

  • Support software standardization and implementation of new system features.

  • Collaborate with teams across storage management, capacity planning, security, networking, and performance tuning.

  • Work closely with other system programmers to enhance the mainframe infrastructure.

  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members.

  • Identify and implement system and process improvements in z/OS operations.

  • Partner with application support teams to support business and technical initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years of professional experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer (z/OS & ISVs).

  • Strong proficiency with SMP/E and non-SMP/E installation processes.

  • Expertise with IBM and Broadcom software product installations and upgrades.

  • Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.

  • Hands-on experience with z/OS V2.5 or later, including z/OSMF Workflow execution.

  • Skilled in IODF, HCD for adding and managing new devices.

  • Experience in Sysplex and configuration management (preferred).

  • Proficiency with JCL and IBM Utilities such as IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, AMASPZAP, DFDSS.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
