Job Title: Test Technician - Rotary Machinery
Location: Houston, TX
Type: Contract To Hire
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
We are assisting a manufacturing client in hiring a Test Technician.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in mechanical testing of rotating machinery (e.g., blowers, compressors, dryers).
Proficient in using laser shaft alignment tools.
Ability to measure vibration, pressure, and temperature using appropriate instruments.
Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical connections for industrial equipment.
Proficient with Windows-based computers and software for generating test reports.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with soft starters, water-cooling towers, or similar auxiliary equipment.
Familiarity with industrial safety protocols and quality standards.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or test lab environment.
Essential Job Functions
Perform precision shaft alignment using laser shaft alignment tools (core responsibility).
Conduct mechanical tests on centrifugal blowers, compressors, and dryers following established procedures.
Record and analyze vibration, pressure, and temperature data during testing.
Set up electrical and mechanical input/output connections, including auxiliary equipment such as soft starters and water-cooling towers.
Generate accurate and detailed test reports using Windows-based software.
Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Communicate test findings, anomalies, and improvement recommendations to the engineering team.
Follow all safety protocols and company procedures during test operations.
