Job Title: Senior System Cloud Administrator (PowerShell & Azure)
Location: Herndon, VA (Onsite 3x per week)

Job Description

A large software client is seeking a Senior Systems Cloud Administrator to join their Corporate IT SAS (Server and Application Services) team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the evaluation, design, and daily operation of the SAS environment across the enterprise. You will install, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot servers and applications while ensuring compliance with U.S. national security protocols.

The ideal candidate is an Azure expert with strong automation, scripting, and Windows/Linux administration experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can collaborate across IT teams.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, design, implement, and maintain SAS infrastructure solutions.
Automate tasks using PowerShell or Bash.
Implement processes for performance monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and change management.
Lead system patching, vulnerability management, and system hardening.
Maintain server/application diagrams, workflows, and documentation.
Perform incident diagnosis, corrective action, and root cause analysis.
Oversee configuration, testing, and maintenance of server components and applications.
Collaborate with Cloud Operations, Cyber Security, and Systems Administration teams.
Manage vendor relationships for hardware/software evaluation and upgrades.
Ensure 24/7 system availability, fault management, and adherence to SLA requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years as a System Administrator or Cloud Administrator in an enterprise environment.
4+ years with PowerShell or Bash scripting for automation.
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (expert level administration).
Senior-level Windows administration (Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy).
Experience with Ansible for deployments.
Firewall configuration experience.
Linux troubleshooting and patching (SUSE, RedHat, CentOS).
Ability to be onsite 3x per week in Herndon, VA

Nice to Have

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Professional certifications (MCSE, MCITP, Microsoft Azure AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-303/304).
Experience with SEIM tools, backups, and monitoring systems.
Knowledge of NIST 800-53 rev 4 or other security best practices.
